Prototypes

Iterative prototyping embodied the main process of the project. In order to ensure that the instruments were working naked electrical prototypes were built and verified first without any instrument housing. This was completed for all instruments at home using a laptop on which X-Plane was run.

 

Once basic tests were completed and functionality was verified the electrical prototyping took place. Upgrades were carried out whereby the electrical wiring setup was developed to use more robust and finalised components such as a solder breadboard and grove base shield.

 

Progressive versions of the instrument housing were tweaked and refined in order to improve the designs for efficient and effective implementation. Modifications were made to overcome certain challenges and issues discovered accordingly.

 

Once a finalised instrument housing design was concluded for each instrument the prototyping was considered complete and the final build integration process was initiated.
